This portfolio represents my work in custom art furniture, which includes sculptural woodwork and kiln fired glass. Each piece is one -of- a- kind, that is part of a series or an evolution of a visual theme. My background, which is founded upon sculpture and mixed media, is reflected in my functional art furniture.

As a maker of contemporary art furniture, I seek to utilize the studio art environment to create visual ideas that are fresh and expressive of an individual maker rather than a historical style.

Rather than just make an object of craft, I seek to create functional art as glass art furniture for the home environment. While knowledge of the nature of a mediums of woodworking and kiln fired glass are essential, it is the language of art that guides my design process to completion.

Much of my work is initiated by a commission with a client and defined by their functional needs and aesthetic taste. After we have effectively communicated with each other regarding the theme of the piece, I will do drawings and models that reveal the design potential. Further discussion will ripen these sketches into a unique art piece of furniture.

I have been involved with fine woodworking in the Northwest for over thirty- five years and continue to strive to creatively blend custom handmade furniture with art glass as functional art work.
